Disconnect and drain outdoor hoses
Unhook all hoses from your outside spigot, as it can cause them to “freeze break” which can lead to flooding under your home and costly repairs.
Drain Sprinkler Systems
Properly drain and winterize your sprinkler system according to the manufacturer’s instructions to prevent damage from frozen water.
Maintain Water Heater
Flush your water heater to remove sediment buildup, and check the temperature setting to ensure it’s not set too high. Consider insulating the water heater to improve efficiency.
Allow Faucets to Drip
During extreme cold, allow a slow drip from faucets, especially those connected to exposed pipes. This helps prevent freezing by keeping water moving.
